"I want to trust my intuition.  How can I tell the difference between real intuitive messages and my own thoughts?"

 Answer  

Intuitive insights are messages from a Divine source.  This inner guidance is activated by love and always results in greater understanding and compassion for ourselves and others.

True intuitive messages are always loving, positive, powerful, courageous and noncoercive.  They leave you with a feeling of well-being, openness and calmness. 

For instance, let's say that you have been concerned about an incident your child had with a friend at school the previous week.  Your child has been upset about it since.  You want to know how you can best help your child.

You take a moment to go within, connect with your heart and ask for guidance.  You soon get an urge to call your child's teacher.  Notice how you feel when you imagine yourself calling the teacher.  Follow up on this idea ONLY when it feels welcoming, inviting and positive.

You notice that you feel resistance to this idea.  If you feel resistance, this negative feeling probably means that it may not be the best time to call the teacher.  She may be busy, unavailable, or closed to your ideas.

You go within again and then, you get an idea to address the issue with your child from a different perspective.  You remember you just saw an article that talked about how to handle disagreements in relationships.  When you imagine talking to your child about this article you just read, it feels very good.  You may even get chills or your heart area may feel expansive.  These are your cues that this is true divine guidance!

Another way you can tell the difference between true intuition and your own imagination, is to note if there is any fear behind the message.  Messages from your mind are usually based on fear, scarcity, guilt, or a need to protect yourself from an imagined threat.  They tend to flatter the ego, make you feel superior or inferior, create doubt and uncertainty.  Do not pay attention to these thoughts, as they do not come from a Divine source.

Your Divine Self guides you through your heart.  If you have a choice to make, always choose what you are drawn to do and would love to do.  Ask yourself, "What would I love to do?", not "what should I do? or "what do I have to do?"

Follow your heart in every area of your life.  As you do, you align yourself with your inner wisdom.  Your intuition is always guiding you towards a joyful life!
